Pins that stay on this phone
Saved spots, catch pins, and hotspots when nearby pins cluster. Map tiles need a network. The pins themselves are not sent to a Hookr server.
Questions anglers ask first
Does Hookr work offline?
Yes. After you save a spot and the forecast caches, Hookr shows conditions, solunar bite times, and the fishing score without cell service. Fish intel and the daily window recompute on the phone from that cache and a bundled species catalog. Map tiles still need a network when you open the map.
What are solunar bite windows?
Major and minor feeding periods derived from moon transit, antitransit, moonrise, and moonset. Hookr computes those solunar bite times on the device with sun and moon math. They do not come from a live bite API, so the windows stay available from the last cached day when you are offline on the water. Preview a day on the solunar calendar.
How is the fishing score calculated?
On the device, from solunar overlap, barometric pressure trend, wind, dawn or dusk, and coastal tides when that tide data is already cached for a coastal spot. The fishing score runs from 0 to 100 and is a planning aid for when to fish. It is not a promise that you will catch fish.
Do I need an account?
No. Spots, forecasts, settings, and catch logs stay on the device. Hookr does not ask you to create an account or sync that data to a Knox Studios server. Premium is an optional subscription billed through Google Play via RevenueCat.
Is the catch log private?
Yes. Catch entries, photos, and map pins stay on your phone. Hookr does not upload your spots or catches to a Knox Studios cloud. The free plan includes up to five catches. Premium unlocks unlimited history and groups nearby pins into on-device hotspots.
Is there a home screen widget?
Yes, on Android, for Premium. The Hookr widget shows today’s fishing score, sunrise, and the scored window for the active spot. It reads a snapshot already cached on the phone and does not call weather APIs by itself. You add it from the Android widget picker.
What is a fishing forecast?
A fishing forecast turns weather and moon position into a bite plan for a specific spot. Hookr combines pressure trend, wind, on-device solunar times, and local fish mood so you can choose a day and a window before you leave the dock. The Android app stores that forecast and recomputes it with no signal.
